What is a Pentecostal Christian? Written by Manashantii Wednesday 19th July 2017

Because of the sin of Adam and Eve (who are mentioned in the book of Genesis in the Holy Bible)  we are born spiritually dead. Christianity is a spiritual process of becoming spiritually reborn. The soul consists of personality, will and emotions. The soul is full of imperfect emotions and thoughts.

Hebrews 4v12 For the Word of God is quick and powerful and sharper than any two edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of the soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.

Christians go to church because church is a Spiritual covering that protects us and keeps us in obedience to God’s law.

God is an eternal Spirit of love, truth and Justice. He is a triune God = God the Father, God Jesus, and God The Holy Spirit ( a three in one God = 1x1x1=1 ) a Trinity. See Bible Trinity Explained

In the Torah which is Jewish scriptures and also in The Holy Bible which is Christian scriptures (the story is in the book of Genesis in the Holy Bible) God created Adam, and from Adam’s rib he created Adam’s wife Eve (Muslims call her Awa not Eve). Adam and Eve sinned by eating forbidden fruit from a forbidden tree in the garden of Eden (which they were told by God not to eat) this brought sin into the world and we live in a world which fallen and full of sin.

Unlike Catholics and Orthodox churches, Pentecostals do not believe in the use of idols or images of Jesus for use in worship or as decoration. (See Exodus 20v4-5). We also don’t worship Mary the physical mother of Jesus because Mary is not Holy or Divine. We are not to worship angels. (Colossians 2v18)                                                                                          There is no forgiveness after death. (See Hebrews 9 v27)

We are not under the old laws of the Old Testament which is from Jewish religion. This is called Grace. We no longer need to do rituals that keep us in old laws or in the physical or fleshly things like Jews or Muslims for example.

Like Catholics, Anglicans, Methodists, Baptists, Presbyterians, Evangelicals, and other denominations Pentecostals receive Holy Communion. Bread is symbolic for Jesus’ body and Wine or red grape juice is symbolic for Jesus’ blood.

Being a Christian is establishing a personal relationship with God, through the Holy Bible, dreams, prophecy and being in alignment with God’s plan for you. Christians are going through a Spiritual, emotional, psychological, physical and social process of transformation. We are accepted and hidden in Christ. The Holy Bible and God guides us with His Peace and Clarity. Praying and trusting God for He never disappoints or fails. Deliverance comes when you have God inside you. Relying on God’s strength we meditate on God’s love for us by praying and reading the Holy Bible.

Faith in God, faith in Jesus and faith in The Holy Spirit is crucial in your Christian life. In The Holy Bible Jesus says ” God is a Spirit and they that worship Him must worship Him in Spirit and in truth”. See James 4v24. Pentecostals believe in being Holy Spirit led at all times including when worshipping God.

Jesus said  “Verily, verily,  I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the Kingdom of God….. You must be born of water and of Spirit ”  See John 3v1-v 21 Or read all of John 3.

Pentecostals worship the trinity with a focus on being guided by The Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit is a  comforter. Pentecostal Christians believe that the Spiritual Gifts (See 1 Corinthians 12 v8-10, Romans 12 v6-8, 1 Peter 4v11)  are still active and relevant today in Christian life, we also believe in The Fruits of the Spirit. (See Galatians 5v22-23)

Pentecostal /Charismatic Christians believe in Spiritual Warfare and use the Holy Bible scriptures, prayer, Spirit prayer (Speaking in tongues) and using the armour of God to fight spiritually against the enemy.

Being a born again Christian is a process which renews your mind and Spirit by the word of God, by the Holy Bible, by prayer and speaking in tongues. It is a path of becoming united with God eternally. You must also submit the flesh which wars against the Spirit.

Christian Worship is a Holy Sacrifice to God. Good works, praise, thanksgiving and prayer are Spiritual sacrifices to God. Being a Christian is being Holy Spirit focused. Christians relate to God in the Spirit realm through the act of worship and prayer. Knowing the Spirit of God is important, as Christians we depend on the Holy Spirit. Christians constantly examine and develop their Spiritual relationship with the Holy Spirit. God lives in a special place inside every Christian, this place is the alter of your heart. We as Christians are to offer our bodies as a Holy sacrifice to God, our bodies is the temple of the Holy Spirit, which is the habitation of the Lord. In Christianity you are the temple, you are the priest and you are the sacrifice.

Romans 12v1, Psalm 19v14, 2 Timothy 2v20, John 4v19-26, Ephesians 5v18, Hebrews 13v15-16, Micah 6v6, Phillppians 4v16, Romans15, 2 Corinthians 2v14,

The problem with this imperfect world is sin, God looks at your belief in Him and your repentant Christian heart not your sinful nature, because God is forgiving and loving but He is also a God of Justice. Christians have to follow God and Jesus’ example by being loving and forgiving to others. Forgiveness is putting love into action.

Praying to God, reading and studying the Holy Bible is important as a way of relationship building with God, Jesus and The Holy Spirit. Prayer is talking to The Trinity of God. Knowing the Holy Spirit and being guided by Him is vital to your spiritual growth and is an aid to helping you with dealing with spiritual warfare. Reading the Holy Bible is a way to listen to God, Jesus and The Holy Spirit. It is the knowledge of The Holy Bible and God is what will lead you to heaven. Singing songs of praise without a regular routine relationship with God is as bad as fasting without prayer and without reading the Bible scriptures. So pray, fast and read the Holy Bible regularly, however fasting is not necessary for everyone.

Without understanding of the nature of a friend it is difficult for the relationship to function well, reading the Holy Bible is learning to understand how God thinks, it is also a way to build your relationship with God, Jesus and The Holy Spirit.

Pentecostals practice vibrant,  joyful worship and are Holy Spirit led. Praise and worship and Evangelism is important to us.

Pray and ask The Holy Spirit to do something new within you.

Read the book of Acts in the Holy Bible.

Baptists denomination were the ones in modern times to practice full immersion Baptism. Baptist denomination are Cessationists regarding the Gifts of the Holy Spirit. Which means that Baptists (including Evangelicals, Methodists, Anglicans, Presbyterians and other denominations ) believe that the Spiritual gifts have ceased in the present day.

Pentecostals believe and also practice full immersion baptism. Pentecostals are Continuationists in regards to Gifts of the Holy Spirit; which means that they believe we still have been given the Spiritual gifts by God through the Holy Spirit in this present day and that Spiritual gifts continue to exist in this present day. Pentecostals are optimistic and believe in God’s promises in the Holy Bible and receive blessings from God for obeying and worshipping Him.

Have Faith in God, trust that He is powerful and believe in the possibility of miracles. Believe that you are under God’s Grace. Believe that you are Blessed receive Blessings and highly Favoured.  Experience God’s Mercy and Compassion. Acknowledge God’s unconditional love. As a Christian God has forgiven you and sacrificed His life as a payment of sins by dying on the cross and raised from the grave three days later.

See Jesus as a Sacrifice
